ASEAN manufacturers spot trends for 2021
Industrial Automation Asia surveyed ASEAN six manufacturing executives about the post-pandemic landscape, their plans for market growth, and trends they’re watching for 2021. Unsurprisingly, each executive focused on digitization. Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, big data, machine learning, and the Internet of Things (IoT) are all on the radar.
Siemens sees a big role for digital twins, which allow companies to quickly pivot production. “Its ability to drive innovation and design optimisation is something we are likely to see manufacturers leveraging more in 2021,” said Alex Teo, of Siemens South East Asia.
Machine vision will be key for Allied Vision Technologies. “Thanks to the development of embedded technology and artificial intelligence, typical machine vision applications like defect detection, dimension measurement can be easily achieved with embedded vision, which is much smaller, cost-effective, and more intelligent,” said Chris Zou, of Allied Vision Technologies.
